The National Maths and Physics SCITT (NMAPS) is a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider, offering subject specialist teacher training in Mathematics and Physics. NMAPS is a Department for Education initiative designed to give Mathematics and Physics trainees the best, subject-specific experience during their Initial Teacher Training.
NMAPS is the only school centred provider delivering specialist Mathematics and Physics teacher training. Our programme has been developed in partnership with experts from the Mathematical Association and the Institute of Physics. It sets the highest standards in specialist teacher training, bringing together the benefits of on-the-job training offered by a traditional SCITT, with the enhanced focus on specialist subject knowledge and pedagogy normally offered by a university-based course.
The initial teacher training will be led by experienced, specialist Mathematics and Physics practitioners working in a network of some of the best state and independent schools nationally, to ensure the highest quality educational provision. NMAPS awards QTS, while the PGCE element of our course is awarded by the University of Buckingham.
Our network is growing fast and we currently have hubs in:
Bolton - led by Bolton School
Cheadle Hulme - led by Cheadle Hulme School
Chiltern - led jointly by Wycombe High School and Headington School
Dulwich - led by Dulwich College
Guildford - led by Charterhouse
Humberside and Lincolnshire - led by Humberston Academy
Oundle - led by Oundle School
North London - led jointly by the Camden School for Girls and Queen Elizabeth's Girls' School
Warwick - led jointly by King's High School and Warwick School
The quality of candidates is extraordinarily high. If you wish to express an interest in being a placement school for a high-quality trainee in one or both of these subjects in your school in 2020-21 please email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us on 01494 897330.

"I am only a few months into my training with The National Mathematics and Physics SCITT and have so far enjoyed every minute of it. My only regret is not making the decision to teach a few years earlier!" - Andrew, Physics Trainee
